Frequently Asked Questions
About Great Lakes Vacuum
What does Great Lakes Vacuum do?
Great Lakes Vacuum (GLV) is an industrial vacuum pump and blower specialist based in Comstock Park, Michigan, just north of Grand Rapids. We repair, rebuild, and remanufacture rotary piston vacuum pumps, mechanical booster blowers, and related equipment. We also sell new and remanufactured pumps, OEM and aftermarket parts, rebuild kits, vacuum pump oils, and diffusion pump fluids. We are not a vacuum cleaner shop — we service industrial and commercial vacuum equipment used in heat treating, coating, food processing, freeze drying, laboratory work, and similar applications.
Where is Great Lakes Vacuum located?
Our facility is at 220 Lamoreaux Dr NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321, USA — we also own an adjacent building, so our facilities are 20,000 sq ft north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. We ship parts and rebuilt equipment worldwide, and we work with customers across North America and internationally.
How long has GLV been in business?
GLV was founded in 2005 by former Stokes Vacuum technicians. We've been focused on industrial vacuum pump service and parts for over 20 years. Our team combines decades of hands-on experience with the specific pump families we specialize in.
What brands of vacuum pumps and blowers does GLV service?
We regularly service GLV, Stokes, Edwards, Microvac, Leybold, Kinney, Roots, Tuthill, and Welch equipment. Common models we rebuild include:
- GLV 1.5 and GLV 3.0 pumps
- Edwards Stokes 212H, 212J, 412H, 412J, and 612MB Microvac rotary piston pumps
- Leybold TRIVAC D65 B and SOGEVAC SV 300 B vacuum pumps
- Leybold RUVAC WAU 1001 and WSU 1001 mechanical booster pumps
- Welch DuoSeal 1376 vacuum pumps
- Roots 10×24 RGS HVB mechanical booster blowers
- Edwards Stokes 615 Microvac boosters
If your pump isn't on this list, contact us anyway — we have relationships with most major industrial vacuum equipment OEMs and can source parts or handle unusual rebuilds.

Ordering, Quotes, and Accounts
How do I get a quote for a rebuild or parts order?
Three ways:
- For parts, kits, and oils, order directly from greatlakesvacuum.com — most common items are in stock for same-day shipment.
- For rebuilds, complete the contact form or email us at sales@greatlakesvacuum.com with your pump make, model, serial number, and a photo of the nameplate. We'll follow up with next steps.
- For urgent questions or complex jobs, call (888) 633-7127 or ask for Gelan or Wendy at (616) 363-6150.
Do you offer net terms or purchase orders for businesses?
Yes. We work with business customers on standard purchase order terms. Contact us to set up an account or discuss payment terms for larger rebuild projects or recurring parts orders.
Can you help me identify a pump that I have inherited?
Yes. If you have inherited a pump from a previous operation or bought used equipment without documentation, send us a photo of the nameplate (including make, model number, and serial number) along with any visible tags. We can usually identify the pump family, tell you whether parts and kits are available, and recommend whether a rebuild or replacement makes more sense.
Does GLV ship worldwide?
Yes. We ship parts, kits, oils, and full pump assemblies worldwide. For rebuilt or remanufactured pumps, units are custom-skidded, bagged, wrapped, and fastened to a heavy-duty skid sized specifically to the unit. For international shipments, contact us in advance so we can prepare the appropriate export documentation and quote freight.
Does GLV sell vacuum pump parts without doing a full rebuild?
Yes. A large percentage of our business is parts sales to customers who do their own rebuilds, including other pump repair shops. We stock OEM and aftermarket parts, rebuild kits, and vacuum pump oils for same-day shipment on the most common items. See our full parts catalog for available inventory.
